Kallang Bahru
The studio
A booked coaching floor on the third storey at 50 Kallang Bahru. Small on purpose: the cap on people is how the racks stay free and the tests stay repeatable.
Location
Where we are
The studio sits on Jalan Besar / Lavender side of Kallang Bahru, in a walk-up you will reach most easily from Lavender MRT (East-West line, EW11). From the station, follow Kallang Bahru for about six minutes. The building entrance is at street level. Take the lift to the third storey; #03-08 is signed in the corridor. If you arrive by taxi, ask for 50 Kallang Bahru and come up to the third storey rather than waiting in the lobby.
There is limited paid parking in the building and along neighbouring streets. We do not reserve bays. Most people use the MRT or a bus along Lavender Street and Jalan Besar. Allow extra time at 08:30 and 18:30; those are the hours when the pavement is busiest, not when the studio itself queues, because sessions are booked.
Floor
The room
The coaching floor is approximately 18 m by 9 m, on dense rubber over a concrete slab. Mechanical ventilation runs whenever the room is in use; windows on the corridor side stay closed during sessions so that chalk and noise stay in the room. A separate table area is used for the first part of assessments and for writing up tests, so the floor itself stays clear of laptops.
Maximum occupancy is eight people, including coaches. In practice you will see one-to-one, a pair, or a group of four. That cap is how we avoid a queue for a rack in a 55-minute session. Drop-in hours are not offered. If you arrive without a booking we cannot put you on the floor.
Kit
Equipment
- Racks and barbells. Two racks, calibrated plates, and bars kept for coaching rather than for unsupervised mixed use. A rack is assigned to your session.
- Dumbbells 2–40 kg. Pairs through the working range we actually programme. If a block needs a load we do not hold, we substitute a kettlebell or a barbell before you arrive.
- Kettlebells. Used for goblet work, hinges and carries, especially in early weeks when a barbell pattern is still being organised.
- Rowers. The default machine for the 2 km test and for low-impact conditioning slots.
- Assault bike. Used when a rower is the wrong stimulus, or as the remote-test substitute we mention in writing.
- Sled track. Short indoor track for load-carriage work, especially in pre-hike blocks.
- Plyo boxes. Step-ups and box squats; jumping is programmed only after the screen allows it.
- Suspension trainer. Regressions for push and row patterns, and for trunk work we can scale.
- Tempo clock. Visible from the racks. Sets are timed when the plan says they are; we do not guess rest from conversation.
Diary
Opening hours
Sessions run only with a booking. The hours below are the window in which those bookings can sit, not a drop-in timetable.
| Monday–Friday | 06:30–21:00 |
| Saturday | 07:00–15:00 |
| Sunday | Closed |
| Public holidays | By arrangement |
The last weekday session starts at 20:05 so that it finishes inside 21:00. Saturday’s last session starts at 14:05. If you need a slot outside these hours, write to us; we do not advertise an informal extra hour that then fails to appear.
Conduct
House rules
- Chalk only in trays. Chalk stays in the trays we provide. Loose chalk on plates and the floor is how the next session loses time.
- Re-rack. Plates, bells and bars go back to marked homes before you log the session. The 55-minute clock includes this.
- Towel on benches. Bring a small towel. Benches and pads are wiped after each block of work.
- No filming other clients. You may film your own lift, with the camera aimed at you. Other people on the floor are not content.
- Arrive 5 minutes early. The hour starts on the booking. Late arrivals lose warm-up minutes; we do not extend into the next session.
- Cancel 24 hours ahead. Notice inside 24 hours is treated as a taken session, except where we cancelled on our side.
2026
The studio opened in 2026
Fitnessjourneysg opened in 2026 because the format we wanted to run did not fit an open gym. We wanted a room where a twelve-week block, a baseline, and a week-six re-test were the product, and where the number of people on the floor was small enough that a test could be repeated under the same conditions. A large membership floor fights that. A class timetable fights that. A booked coaching floor does not.
Twelve weeks is long enough for a mid-point rebuild and short enough that the outline still matches the diary you described at assessment. Small groups are capped at four so the programme line can stay honest. We did not open a shop, a café, or a challenge club. The room is for the sheet, the lifts, and the log.
We coach exercise. We do not diagnose, treat or provide medical advice. Train with clearance from your doctor if you have a medical condition.

There is no tour without a booking. The 75-minute assessment is how you see the floor, complete the tests, and leave with a written outline.
